On April 22, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) welcomed representatives from Macquarie University (Australia) for a working session to explore potential avenues for international academic collaboration, particularly in the fields of Marketing and Information Technology.

During the meeting, the Macquarie University representative provided an overview of the institution, one of Australia’s leading universities with a strong record of achievement. According to the QS World University Rankings 2024, Macquarie University ranks 133rd globally and holds the top position in Sydney for graduate employability. The university is located within Australia’s largest high-tech precinct, with numerous companies based on campus, creating a dynamic, industry-connected learning environment that offers students direct access to job opportunities. Notably, Macquarie is the only university in Australia with a metro line running directly through its campus, offering exceptional convenience and connectivity.

In terms of academic offerings, Macquarie University features a diverse and forward-looking curriculum, with particular strengths in Marketing & Media, Arts, Data Science, and Information Technology. These are also priority areas for HUTECH’s strategic development, providing a solid foundation for meaningful academic cooperation between the two institutions.
The meeting centered on potential collaboration models, including student exchange programs, academic partnerships, and especially aligning the Marketing and Digital Marketing curricula of both universities—laying the groundwork for a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Macquarie University also introduced compelling scholarship opportunities for HUTECH students, such as the ASEAN Scholarship and ASEAN Partner Scholarship, each worth up to AUD 15,000 per year—offering valuable financial support for Vietnamese students pursuing a global education.

Both sides concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to fast-track curriculum alignment, launch student exchange and scholarship initiatives, and develop joint academic programs. These efforts are expected to open new pathways for HUTECH students to immerse themselves in international learning environments and gain a competitive edge in the global job market.

Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam – Vice Chairman of the University Board of Directors; Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh – Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Chi Thang – Director of the Institute of International Education; Dr. Nguyen Hong Nhung – Vice Director of the Institute of International Education; and Dr. Nguyen Luu Thanh Tan – Deputy Head of the Department of Marketing and International Business. The Macquarie University delegation included Mr. Matthew Monkhouse – Director of Southeast Asia & Eurasia, Ms. Pham Tra My – Vietnam Country Manager, and Ms. Sophie Hai Phuong – Head of Education Consulting at TET Education Group.
