HUTECH students celebrate cultural exchange with Taiwanese artists at Spring Harmony music night

The cultural exchange event “Spring Harmony,” co-organized by the Office of Student Affairs and the Faculty of Chinese Studies at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) in collaboration with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City, took place on the evening of March 12. The event offered students an engaging musical experience enriched with Taiwanese cultural elements.
 
 
HUTECH was one of two institutions in Vietnam selected to participate in this ASEAN TOUR event, highlighting the university's active role in international collaborations.

The performance by The Brilliant Taiwan artists featured songs from multiple award-winning Taiwanese Golden Melody albums, creating an impressive showcase. The combination of traditional music and dynamic visual effects captivated the audience, who enthusiastically joined in the vibrant atmosphere.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Anh, Vice President of HUTECH, welcomed representatives, guests, and The Brilliant Taiwan artists. He remarked, “This cultural exchange provides a valuable opportunity for HUTECH students to experience Taiwanese culture and further their personal development. We hope this event contributes to strengthening connections and fostering continued collaboration.”

Following his remarks, Mr. Liu Shih-Chung, Chief Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam, stated, “It is an honor to be here on the occasion of HUTECH’s 30th anniversary to introduce the Lunar New Year Cultural Exchange Group from Taiwan. This event offers a wonderful opportunity for cultural connection and shared experiences.”

The evening began with a traditional Vietnamese instrumental performance, featuring the melodic sounds of the Vietnamese zither, two-string fiddle, and bamboo flute. The harmonious blend of these instruments created a serene ambiance, reflecting Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage.

Following this, DJ David from The Brilliant Taiwan energized the audience with upbeat performances of well-known songs, including Temple Fair, Happy New Year, and Taiwan Brave One. The lively stage, complemented by dazzling lights, drew enthusiastic applause and participation from the crowd.
 
A highlight of the event was a series of folk music performances celebrating Taiwan’s indigenous heritage. Artist Sangpuy and his band performed songs from the Vansalrang collection, such as Farewell My Love, Na Nu Wa Love Song, and Where Does the Wind Come From. The fusion of traditional folk sounds with modern arrangements deeply resonated with the audience, offering insight into Taiwan’s diverse cultural traditions.

The event featured vibrant performances showcasing distinctive elements of Taiwanese culture
 
Additionally, classic Taiwanese songs were reinterpreted with a fresh, contemporary style. The Brilliant Taiwan’s lead singer delivered a powerful rendition of Love Me Genuinely, originally performed by diva Fong Fei-fei, leaving a strong impression on the audience. The final choral performance, featuring beloved songs like The Moon Represents My Heart and Wishing You Longevity, had the audience singing along in a shared moment of cultural appreciation. The night concluded with a heartfelt group performance of Effort Leads to Success and Friends, fostering a sense of unity and connection.
 
As the event progressed, students gained deeper insights into Taiwanese arts and culture in an interactive and engaging manner. Nguyen Thi Nhu Y, a third-year student majoring in Chinese Language, shared, “This event created an exciting atmosphere and helped me explore cultural similarities. I could feel a deep connection through music and art, as well as mutual respect between different cultural traditions. This was a valuable opportunity for me to improve my communication skills and broaden my global perspective.”

Nguyen Lam Bao Tran, another third-year Chinese Language student, added, “Through this event, I learned a lot about how professionals organize cultural performances. Their meticulous and detail-oriented approach emphasized the importance of careful planning and professionalism. This has inspired me to refine my skills and apply these lessons to my studies and future career.”
