“Thoát Hoan” Lê Hoàng Phúc crowned the champion of HUTECH Acting Stars 2024

The final round of the HUTECH Acting Stars 2024 of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) took place on the evening of July 30 with stunning performances from the top 06 outstanding contestants. After explosive moments of competition on stage, the highest position has officially found its owner.

HUTECH Acting Stars 2024 is being organized for the first time by the Student Affairs Department to celebrate the 30th anniversary of HUTECH (April 26, 1995 - April 26, 2025) and to create a healthy playground for students who love acting to showcase their talents and pave the way for a future professional acting career.

Before reaching the final round, the top 6 outstanding contestants went through nearly 2 months of competition in the Casting, Team Formation, and Shine rounds. From the initial days of being shy and not fully fitting their roles, just after a short time with the close companionship and guidance from the mentors, the young 'actors' have completely transformed and confidently asserted themselves in the decisive performance night. It is known that the mentors shape the contestants from choosing topics, staging situations, scripts, selecting roles, adjusting voice quality, body language, and more.

Sitting in the 'hot seats' of the final round are veteran artists in the acting and screenwriting community, including actress Ôn Bích Hằng, director Vũ Long, and actor Lãnh Thanh. Moreover, the show also features guest appearances from artists Tú Sương, singer Nam Cường, singer Phương Thuỳ, actress Trang Tuyền, along with director consultant and MC Nguyễn Công Minh Trí - Én 2017, CEO of CMT Entertainment, and 2 mentors, actor Thái Duy and actor Huỳnh Thanh Trực.

Representatives from HUTECH included Dr. Kieu Tuan - Secretary of the Party Committee, Standing Committee of the School Council; Mr. Nguyen Cong Mau - Deputy Secretary of the School's Party Committee; Dr. Huynh Ngoc Anh - Vice Rector of the School, along with the teachers who are leaders of various Departments/Institutes/Offices in the school.

The opening of the Final Night was by the mentor team of actor Thai Duy with the play "Mỹ nhân kế - Princess An Tư". The performance, featuring contestants Phương Trinh, Xuân Bách, and Hoàng Phúc, with support from Thu Hạnh and guest actor Hoài Tân, recreated the story of Princess An Tư of the Trần dynasty, who had an important historical mission. She was married to Trấn Nam Vương Thoát Hoan but actually took on the role of a "spy," contributing to changing the battlefield situation and achieving victory for her country. With elaborate staging ideas, a variety of combined art forms, and even a script that includes modern trendy elements, "Mỹ nhân kế - Princess An Tư" has sparked a strong sense of pride in the glorious history of the Vietnamese nation within each audience member.

After watching the performance, actor Lãnh Thanh praised the team a lot: “I just enjoyed an artistic product that is student-like but very professional. You all acted very well, with diverse emotions bringing a lot of feelings to the audience. Moreover, this is a historical play, but you know how to incorporate current trends, creating a new look for the play, youthful and closer to young people.”

Meanwhile, actress Ôn Bích Hằng particularly appreciates the investment in the stage, costumes, makeup, and the interaction with props from the contestants. This further enhances the meticulous and elaborate investment, significantly contributing to the success of the play.

Following the night of performances is the play "Angel's Dream" from mentor Huỳnh Thanh Trực's team, featuring contestants Tuyết Nhi, Hoàng Huy, and Ngọc Đức. The play recounts the emotional ranges and intense aspirations of beings that have not had the chance to cry out into life for various reasons, thereby reflecting the alarming reality of abortion today.

"Angel's Dream" has a modern flair, intertwined with crucial issues of life, awakening deep emotions within the audience, especially the youth. A myriad of conflicting feelings from anger, pain, and resentment to love, optimism, and compassion are interwoven, harmonizing with the humanitarian message of the play that has moved many audience members to tears.

As a director who has overseen and witnessed countless moving scripts, when watching the play 'Dream of the Celestial Being' performed by HUTECH students, judge Vu Long could not help but shed tears. He shared: 'This is a very meaningful performance that evokes complex emotions in the audience. As someone with a family, I couldn't hold back my tears in response to the message you conveyed. You performed very well, fully embodying your roles, and even with the alternating changes between roles, you quickly adapted and expressed yourselves excellently, with very clear nuances.'

As expected, with natural acting skills, flexible improvisation, and confident demeanor, contestant Le Hoang Phuc from the English Department, belonging to the team of actor Thai Duy, has excellently won the title of Champion of HUTECH Acting Stars 2024. Along with this, the titles of Runner-up and Third place belong to students Trang Xuan Bach from the Marketing - International Business Department and Nguyen Tuyet Nhi from the Law Department, respectively. The other contestants also received various special awards, including Nguyen Hoang Phuong Trinh from the Communication and Design Department (Potential Face), Le Hoang Huy from the Department of Social Sciences and Public Relations (Inspirational Face), and Nguyen Ngoc Duc from the Institute of Music and Arts (Impressive Face).
