Not limited to the classroom, students from the English Language Faculty at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) recently had the chance to observe the operational model of a professional language center firsthand during a field trip to IELTS Mentor (Dien Bien Phu campus) on June 3.

From the moment they entered the learning space at IELTS Mentor, students felt the vibrant atmosphere and dynamic interaction between instructors and learners. Each class is organized as a language immersion activity, with listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills naturally practiced through academic games and teamwork. This vividly demonstrates a modern language training model that meets the practical application demands of a globalized context.

One of the highlights for students was the introduction of the L.I.B (Learn - Integrate - Build) teaching method, developed by Jackson Howard—Academic Director of The Language Company - America and English Language Company - Asia. This method encourages learners to approach English holistically, leveraging the synergy between sensory perception, emotional engagement, and reflexive skills to optimize learning effectiveness.

Additionally, the visit provided students with valuable insights into career orientation, particularly in the field of English language teaching. They had the opportunity to listen to firsthand experiences shared by instructors and management staff regarding actual recruitment demands, career development pathways, and opportunities to become teaching assistants or IELTS instructors after graduation. These insights offered students a clearer view of today’s labor market needs.
Students receiving career counseling and guidance from professional advisors
Thanks to this valuable experience at IELTS Mentor, English majors at HUTECH have gained increased confidence and a clearer understanding of real-world working environments, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to prepare for their future careers.
