As part of the Bukkyo Study Tour 2025, the Faculty of Japanese Studies at HUTECH collaborated with Bukkyo University (Japan) to organize a vibrant series of academic and cultural exchange activities. The program created meaningful opportunities for students from both countries to connect, experience each other’s cultures, and strengthen international friendship.

A series of academic and cultural exchange activities provided valuable knowledge for students
With the support of Ms. Doan Thi Minh Nguyen., Vice Dean of the Faculty of Japanese Studies, along with faculty members and HUTECH students, the Japanese students participated in a range of Vietnamese language classes from February 27 to March 6. The topics covered included phonetics, numbers, greetings, shopping-related phrases, and expressions for making polite requests. These lessons not only helped students from HUTECH and Bukkyo improve their language skills, but also offered practical applications, enhancing the overall learning experience.
On the morning of February 28, the Japanese students had the chance to explore Vietnamese culture through a culinary exchange. Together, they prepared traditional Vietnamese dishes such as bò bía (spring rolls), gỏi cuốn (fresh rolls), and bánh tráng trộn (mixed rice paper salad), then enjoyed the dishes they had made themselves. Ms. Doan Thi Minh Nguyen remarked, “This isn’t just a culinary activity, but a chance for us to connect and understand each other through cultural traditions. I hope today’s experience deepens your appreciation for Vietnamese culture.”

In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, students also created handmade greeting cards for their mothers, sisters, and friends. Before beginning, students from HUTECH and Bukkyo exchanged information about the holiday, then eagerly began crafting and decorating their own unique cards. At the end of the session, they presented their creations and explained the meaning behind each design element, resulting in an emotional and memorable experience.

The activities left lasting memories for students from both universities
Each activity in the program went beyond language learning by giving students from HUTECH and Bukkyo the chance to apply their knowledge in everyday situations. These real-world experiences helped them boost their language proficiency and gain confidence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. At the same time, cultural experiences such as cooking and card-making helped bridge the gap between students from the two countries, deepening their understanding of one another and preparing them for a future of international integration.
