HUTECH’s IT students explore information security against cybercrime

On August 23rd, students of the Faculty of Information Technology - Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) attended the Southern Region Information Security Workshop 2024 with the theme "Ensuring Information Security for Digital Infrastructure, Digital Data and Digital Economy Against Cybercrime".
The workshop was co-organized by the Authority of Information Security - Ministry of Information and Communications; the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City; and the Vietnam Information Security Association - Southern Division. Multiple IT & information security have gathered at the workshop.

Experts shared solutions to protect Ho Chi Minh City's information system
Students are also updated on security approaches in various areas such as HCMC's information system, electronic financial transactions, etc., thereby raising awareness of potential risks and ways to prevent cyberattacks. The issue of data authentication and security was emphasized, enhancing students’ knowledge of personal information confidentiality and advanced authentication methods. This is especially important in the context of hackers using increasingly sophisticated technology to penetrate information systems, causing unpredictable consequences for society.

Students listened to experts about updated security methods in electronic financial transactions
In addition, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in the field of security was implied as a new trend in information technology. These technologies help detect and prevent cyberattacks more effectively. Finally, the increasing demand for high-quality manpower in the field of information security was also mentioned, opening up various career opportunities for Information Technology students.

The workshop opened up many new opportunities for students in Information Technology
The workshop provided HUTECH students with in-depth knowledge of the importance and challenges of the information security area in digital transformation. Through the workshop, students had the opportunity to interact with industry experts, thereby gaining more experience in the field of information technology and information security.
