At the beginning of the session, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung – Director of VJIT – introduced an overview of HUTECH’s scale of operations and academic orientation. With nearly 40,000 students enrolled in over 60 majors across various levels, the university focuses on developing professional competence combined with foreign language proficiency to meet global integration demands. Among these, the Vietnam–Japan program at VJIT currently has about 2,000 students, following a structured Japanese language training pathway from the first year to graduation. This is considered one of the university’s standout models, preparing students to enter the professional working environment in Japan.

Continuing the program, Ms. Akiyama – Assistant to the Director of the Head Office, Iwatani Gakuen Academy – introduced the Academy’s education system, which includes Iwatani Japanese Language School and Iwatani Higashi Hokkaido IT College. Iwatani Japanese Language School exclusively enrolls international students, with Vietnamese students making up a significant portion. Meanwhile, Iwatani IT College focuses on two highly applicable fields: information technology in smart agriculture and startup ecosystem development. These are areas with high recruitment demand in Japan in the coming years.
In addition to its educational orientation, Ms. Akiyama emphasized the support policies in place for international students at the Academy. Students are offered free dormitory accommodation (including utilities) and tuition subsidies from the local government for up to five and a half years — a duration expected to be adjusted to three years and one month starting next year. Besides academic support, the Academy also facilitates part-time work opportunities and direct connections with local businesses. This not only helps students manage living costs but also improves their professional skills and adaptability in the Japanese working environment.

In addition to long-term programs, Iwatani Gakuen is implementing short-term study and internship opportunities for international students. These programs integrate Japanese language learning, programming skills, workplace skills, and cultural–social exploration of Japan, offering valuable hands-on experience for Vietnamese students, especially those who wish to work in Japan after graduation.
Mr. Shimotochitana Makoto – Head of the Long-term Care Insurance Division, Resident Life Department, Nakashibetsu Town – expressed his desire to enhance connections between the university and local businesses to create a diverse practice environment for students. He noted that many practical roles such as working in shops, assisting with sales, managing leave schedules, and operating booking services are in need of young, flexible human resources. International students can directly participate in these roles to gain experience and better understand Japanese business culture.

In response, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung stated that HUTECH is ready to collaborate with Japanese partners to develop an educational model suitable for Vietnamese students, particularly the "study-and-intern" model. This approach not only provides practical experience but also helps reduce educational costs and enhances students' competitiveness when entering the global job market.
The working session opens up prospects for cooperation in human resource training between HUTECH and Nakashibetsu Town
The session opened up many promising and practical cooperation opportunities between HUTECH and Nakashibetsu Town. Building on the strong relationship already established, both sides hope to soon implement specific programs that will contribute to promoting educational exchange and developing high-quality human resources between Vietnam and Japan.
